Linking a forecast item to a debt, goal, or investment
Connect a monthly item to the bigger thing it feeds, so progress is tracked in context instead of in isolation.
A forecast item can be tied to a longer-running target. Open the forecast item's screen and look under the Category row for Link to Debt, Link to Savings Goal, and Link to Investment. Tap one to open a picker and choose the target.
What to link to what
- Expense items that are debt payments link to the debt they pay down.
- Savings items link to the savings goal they fund.
- Investment contribution items link to the investment they buy into.
For example, a monthly car loan payment linked to that debt means each month's payment is counted as progress against the balance, not just as a line in the budget.
