Matching transactions to forecast items
Press and hold a transaction, drag it onto the forecast item it belongs to, and release. That single gesture is what gives a transaction its meaning in Seed.
The Forecast page has a New Transactions area listing everything that is not yet matched to a forecast item. Matching a transaction is what tells Seed what that money was actually for.
The gesture
- 1Press and hold a transaction in New Transactions to pick it up. Press-and-hold is deliberate, so you cannot drag one by accident while scrolling.
- 2Drag it onto the forecast item it belongs to.
- 3Release.
The item updates immediately: the amount counts toward that item's spent total for an expense, or earned total for income, and the progress bar fills. Both income and expense items accept drops. Drop a paycheck on an income item to grow earned income, drop a purchase on an expense item to grow spent.
Undoing a match
- The most recently placed transaction can be undone directly.
- For an older one, open the forecast item and swipe to delete the transaction from it.
- Unassigning only breaks the link. The transaction itself is never deleted.
There is a much faster way
AI Auto-Assign proposes a match for every unassigned transaction in the month at once, with a reason and a confidence level for each. See Using AI Auto-Assign.
